Wine Spectator’s Unfiltered Column highlighted the new wine industry documentary, Sparkling: The Story of Champagne, which comes out in August. Directed by Frank Mannion, the film “uncorks a controversial take on the origins of sparkling wine, and looks at how climate change is impacting where sparkling wine is made.”
In addition to visiting Champagne Bollinger during filming, the documentary divulges something else that viewers may be interested to learn… “Maybe that Bollinger’s decades-long association with the James Bond movie franchise (the Champagne also appeared in author Ian Fleming’s 1956 Bond novel Diamonds Are Forever), was sealed with a handshake deal between the Champagne house and producer Cubby Broccoli—a far cry from the $45 million that Heineken is rumored to have paid for its appearance in Skyfall!”
